Getting Here

Getting here is a fun adventure.

We require all guests to have their own boat transportation. A knowledge of ocean tides and navigation is a must have to play in our majestically powerful ocean.

It's easiest to launch the boat in Port Edward. It's about a 15 min boat ride from Port Edward to Smith Island. The exact location and directions are provided upon booking.

Our dock is only accessible at tides above 2.2 meters. The nautical phenomena of tide must be considered carefully in your travel plans.

Theres more to enjoy here

Tatenham has many enjoyable activities to offer if you dont go out to sea for fishing.

Beachcombing is enjoyable as Inverness passage used to be home to many vibrant canneries. Theres always plenty of interesting things washing up on the shorelines.

Soak-in the beautiful scenery, from the wildlife to the stunning views. Grab a blanket, a book, and a camera, enjoy the serenity.

Visit with your friends and family at the campfire.

Canoe or kayak along the passage on slack tide when the water is calm.

Fish off the dock (although all we've every caught  off the rock is bait). The salmon are in the passage on their way to the Skeena starting mid to late July.

Porpoise watching. head up to hicks point, the porpoises like to feed on fish between there and kitsen island.

Prime Fishing location

Prince Rupert is home to Supreme fishing!

In June the fish are still a ways off shore and you'll find our area near the skeena river basin is often closed.

You will find the fish between the northwest end of porcher island hunts inlet to refuge bay and Prescott island. These waters have a tendency to be BIG and are not for rookies.

For slightly tamer sea experience and all year great fish, burn some extra feul and head to the east side of Dundas island. You may even find some humpback whales or killer whales on the north end.

If you have tons of feul and insanely calm sea,  try your luck west of zaya's island just south of the Alaska border. There are some barely touched halibut hills there with monster fish. But take caution as the weather changes fast and you best be ready.

In mid July to August the fish that are going to spawn make their way upstream. There are more salmon to be caught closer to mainland and you may even see them jumping from the cabin.

The river fishing up the Skeena does not disappoint. Just watch out for the sandbars if you're boating. There are a few places like polymar or China Bar where you can fish off the shoreline. It's always a great family day out if you have kids.
